Biography

Giovanna Guerrero-Medina received a PhD in neurobiology from the University of California, Berkeley, and subsequently held science policy fellowships at the National Academies and the NIH. Through her position with the Wu Tsai Institute and previous roles as director in the Yale School of Medicine's Office of Collaborative Excellence and Student Engagement and executive director of the nonprofit Ciencia Puerto Rico, Guerrero-Medina guides programming to democratize science and promote inclusive scientific environments. Her first exposure to research was as a high school student studying lake fish in her home country of Puerto Rico, and she has been hooked on science ever since.
